Empowering small non-profits to make the most of information technology

Pro Bono IT Services

Non-profits are launched by passionate people who want to affect positive change in the world. Their primary focus is on their mission ... to achieve a significant impact, however, a mission statement and related mission expertise isn't enough.

Pro Bono IT Services

Non-profit leaders need to understand, and have access to, all of the "nuts and bolts" tools needed to successfully run a business, and information technology resources are a key component that are often lacking when a non-profit is first launching.  For example,

Do you have a website to announce your mission to the world?

Do you have the basic means of reaching out to people who might be helped by your mission, or who may be able to help you as volunteers, donors, or sponsors, through a variety of platforms (email, text, social media, snail-mail support tools)?

Are you aware of various open source (aka free) tools at your disposal, and how to use them?

Unless you or one of your co-founders has the IT know-how necessary to implement the above (and more), plus the time to invest in doing so, you'll need help establishing these vital IT capabilities ... that's where I would like to offer my support.

About Me

I'm a retired IT professional (software engineer, author, and adjunct professor) with over 30 years of experience with building IT solutions from the ground up and teaching people how to use them ... just as significant is the fact that I'm also a non-profit entrepreneur.

In March 2013, I launched Pets Bring Joy, a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization, single-handedly on a shoestring; I'm delighted to report that I've grown PBJ into a successful $300K organization with a staff of four and a team of over 100 volunteers. As of June 2022, we've saved the lives of over 3,000 homeless animals and have brought joy to thousands of people as adopters, fosters, and volunteers.

Drawing upon my personal IT expertise, we were able to put in place all of the basic IT tools needed to help PBJ grow and thrive, and I'm now offering my expertise on a pro bono basis to other small non-profits to help you do the same.

Let's start a no-obligation discussion on how I might be able to empower YOUR non-profit! Please connect with me at jacquie.barker@gmail.com.
