We want to help you to find your next furry family member! Once you've applied and been approved to adopt, one of our adoption counselors will be assigned to work with you to find your PURRfect match. You'll then have an opportunity to meet cats of interest in their foster homes or at an adoption event held at one of our two adoption venues before making your adoption decision.

PBJ is a foster-home based rescue: that is, rather than living in a shelter, all of our animals are cared for in loving home settings while they are with us, where they are happiest and healthiest. We are frequently looking for volunteers willing to welcome a PBJ foster cat/kitten(s) into their homes and lives!
Fostering is a particularly wonderful way to involve an entire family in a shared community service activity.

PBJ is committed to helping our community. We serve our community by assisting with community cats, helping provide food, shelters, and volunteer feeders for community cat colonies. We provide options to families who may need assistance in keeping or rehoming their pet. We provide guidance and assistance to good Samaritans who are unsure of what to do when helping a homeless or stray animal.
More About PBJ's Community Programs »
PBJ found loving homes for 393
animals in 2022, and spent $176K doing so.
We couldn't raise such critical funds without
donations from generous, compassionate people like YOU!
Your donations fund much needed veterinary care, spay/neuter,
specialized food, microchipping, and supplies for our animals
on their rescue journey.
Monthly donations from our Sustaining Donors Circle members are critical to ensuring continuity of our rescue operations, and providing the best care possible for our animals on their rescue journey. We thank you for considering becoming a recurring donor.
We believe that everyone in our community deserves the opportunity to experience joy from animal companionship, whether by adopting a new family member, welcoming a foster into your home, or communing with our kitties as a volunteer.
PBJ has a team of pet sitters available to care for your pets in the NoVA area. Services include pet sitting, cat boarding, dog walking and more! 100% of the profits from PBJ's Pet Care Service go to support our rescue mission.
